 Predator: Badlands Summary (Spoiled) 

MAIN CHARACTERS 

DEX: 

He was actually a Yotja warrior. At start, he was shown weak but then he aimed to prove him himself strong and powerful because he was seen week by his father. He faced different challenges and survived a deadly planet, defeated powerful enemies. And at last, he became a strong and powerful leader. 

KALESIK:
Kalisek was shown the most powerful creature in the movie. At first, he appeared as a terrifying and nearly immortal monster. However, later it was revealed that he also had emotions, especially as a parent searching for his child. 

Thea:
They Thea was a synthetic character, a combo of human and machine from planet Earth. She was so intelligent and resourceful. At first, she used dex for his own purpose but later she showed loyalty and helped dex so much. 

Tisa:
Tisa was actually Thea’s sister. She was also so intelligent and more focused on her mission. She was shown as an antagonist later in movie. Her character shows, how obsession with goal can make someone so ruthless. 

At the beginning of the movie, a planet of aliens called “Yautja” was shown. Every alien living there was called a Yautja. Among them, only one thing really mattered, who was more powerful and who could fight better. Strong and skilled fighters were only considered respectful. While the weak yautjas werenot even allowed to live there. As soon as someone was found to be weak, they were killed immediately. It short, if you wanted to survive, you had to be strong. Then one yautja named ‘’Dex’’ was introduced. We saw him entering his home in the mountains. 

As soon as he entered, his brother attacked him with sword and started fighting. The only reason for the fight was to make Dex stronger. His brother loved him a lot and didn’t want anyone to kill him. He wanted Dex to become the strongest of all. They kept fighting for a long time, but Dex didn’t even win a single fight. His brother told him to practice more, but Dex said, “I don’t think I need it. I am already very powerful, but dad and you all cannot see it. I will prove myself one day. I will hunt the most powerful creature in the entire universe and make our father’s name famous across the planet.” His brother then told him that, ‘the most powerful creature in the universe is a monster called “Kalisek.” It is impossible to kill or capture hm’’. 

He asked Dex if he could bring it. Dex immediately accepted the challenge, even though his brother told him that even their father had failed to do it. During this, Dex’s father also arrived, and he got extremely angry as soon as he saw Dex. He told his son to kill him immediately because he believed Dex was ruining his reputation. Dex tried to explain to him that it wasn’t like that. He said that one day he would bring a great hunt for him and make him proud. But his father looked at him with sternly, and his anger grew even more. He tied up Dex with his laser ropes and again told Dex’s brother to kill him. Dex’s brother had no other option left. Obeying his father, he picked up his laser sword, but instead of killing Dex, he cut the laser ropes. Dex quickly ran to his spaceship. His father got extremely angry at his brother and cut off one of his hands. Even then, his brother tried to help Dex again with his other hand. The spaceship remote was in his hand, and from there, he launched Dex’s spaceship toward a planet named “Jina,” where Dex had to find the black monster. 

Dex trusted his brother a lot. He knew that his father would treat his brother so badly, but he had never expected it to be this cruel. In a fit of rage, Dex’s father killed his brother, and Dex was completely shattered and heartbroken over this. Dex then reached Jina planet. As soon as he entered that planet, the pressure became so intense that all the windows of his spaceship shattered. To save himself, Dex quickly got into a capsule, and it crash-landed in the jungle of planet Jina. As we all knew, Dex was a warrior. He believed he was very powerful. He had different types of weapons hidden in his suit. But he hadn’t expected that planet Jina would be more dangerous than he had imagined. Even the plants there were like monsters. As soon as he started moving, the plants attacked him. They stripped all the weapons from his suit. After that, large boulder like attacks came from those plants. Dex started cutting them with his wrist laser blade and kept moving forward. On the way, many plants attacked him, some grabbed his legs, while others tried to trap him completely. But eventually, Dex managed to get out of the jungle. He was badly injured, so he sat down, treated his wounds, and decided to move forward again. He didn’t even know where to find Kalisek. 

As he continued, he encountered some strange flowers that opened their mouths and attacked whenever something came close, causing serious damage. Dex realized that on this planet, he would have to take every single step very carefully. A little further ahead, he saw a girl hanging from a tree. Her name was Thea. She called Dex closer and said, “You don’t look like you’re from here. What are you doing on this planet?” Dex told her that he had come from the Yautja planet, he was a Yautja, and here he came to hunt the Kalisek monster, so he could prove himself as the strongest on his planet. Thea replied that, ‘it seems like you still didn’t understand how dangerous this planet is. She told him that he wouldn’t be able to move forward or survive on his own. She offered to help him, saying that she knew this place very well. But Dex refused and said he didn’t need any help. She offered again and said, “Think about it, I even know the way to Kalisek.” Hearing this, Dex finally agreed and took her down from the tree. He was surprised to see that she wasn’t actually human, but a synthetic, a combo of human and machine. Dex then carried her on his back and continued his journey forward. 

On their way, they had to cross a river filled with bloodthirsty fishes. But Thea knew well how to control fishes. And this way, they crossed the river safely. Then they reached another jungle. For his own ease, Dex pulled down some vines from a tree and used them to tie Thea onto his back. After traveling for a long time, they decided to rest for the night. Thea told Dex that they had been sent from planet Earth for research on this planet. Their mission was to hunt the Kalisek monster. She explained that humans were too weak to survive there, so they had created beings like them—synthetics, meaning half human and half machine. She also told him about her sister, Tisa. She said that Kalisek had attacked their spaceship, and during that attack, her sister got separated and her own legs were badly damaged. It had been two years since she had been stuck there. After that, the next scene showed Tisa inside a spaceship. She had repaired most of it. She was sitting in a chamber where many robotic hands were fixing her. She wanted to find her sister, Thea. Morning came, and Dex and Thea continued moving toward Kalisek’s location. On the way, they had to pass through a field where the plants were very sharp, and there were huge monsters there as well. 

Thea told Dex that those monsters were actually Kalisek’s guards. While they were talking, a small creature appeared, something like a monkey. It came up to them and said that it could help them cross the area if they wanted. But Dex didn’t want anyone else’s help anymore. Suddenly, a huge monster,one of Kalisek’s guards, attacked them. Before it could swallow all three of them, Dex used his laser sword and cut the monster into two pieces. Just then, another monster attacked and grabbed all three of them with its tentacles. But the small creature quickly cut those tentacles. Now the big monster started chasing that small creature. Before it could eat it, Dex quickly jumped, cut down a tree, and the tree fell on the monster. Then Dex attacked its eye and killed it. And that’s how all three of them survived, and they continued moving forward together. On the other side, Tisa had fully recovered and went out to search for her sister, Thea. While searching, she reached a spaceship. From its system, she got all the information that it had come from the Yautja planet and that a Yautja was present on this planet. She felt that her sister must be with that Yautja. In the next scene, it was night, and the three of them sat together after lighting a fire. Dex and the small creature were hungry, so they went out to arrange some food. Thea, being a synthetic, didn’t feel hunger. 

Dex told Thea and the small creature his story, that how his father believed he was weak, and how his father had even killed his brother. That was why he had come there, to take revenge for his brother’s death and to prove his father wrong by killing Kalisek. Tisa was still inside Dex’s spaceship. She looked at his weapons, and one of them caught her attention. It was a weapon that could turn anything into ice. She took that weapon along with all the others and left. Meanwhile, Dex, Thea, and the small creature started their journey again. 

As they kept moving, they reached a place where everything was destroyed. Thea told Dex that this used to be their base, but Kalisek and his kind had completely destroyed it. Inside that base, Thea found her legs. She picked them up and went into a lab to attach them back. Then she apologized to Dex and told him that she had used him just to reach her legs. She admitted that she didn’t actually know where Kalisek was and couldn’t help him find it. Hearing this, Dex got really angry. He couldn’t believe that Thea had betrayed him like that. Thea told him, “Kalisek is extremely dangerous, and I’ve seen all your foolish stunts. You won’t be able to defeat him. If you listen to me, you should go back to your planet.” Dex replied angrily, saying, “You’ll see the result of your betrayal.” After saying this, he walked out of the lab. As soon as he stepped outside, a massive creature appeared in front of him. 

It was actually Kalisek. It was so huge that when it opened its mouth, it was almost half the size of Dex’s body. Dex attacked it with his laser sword and sliced through it while passing underneath. But it had no effect. No matter how many times Dex attacked, Kalisek healed itself within seconds. Dex managed to cut off its tail and quickly attacked its neck, separating its head from its body. But within a second, Kalisek reattached both its tail and its head. Kalisek was basically immortal—he wasn’t going to die at all. Dex tried again to catch him, but Kalisek attacked him instead. It was about to kill Dex, but then it suddenly smelled him and left him. 

Dex was really shocked and wondered why it had spared his life. Tisa was watching all of this and became very curious about why Kalisek let Dex go. She quickly used one of Dex’s weapons and froze both Dex and Kalisek. Then she captured them and brought them back to the lab, where she started experimenting on both of them. During all this, she ignored Thea, who still hadn’t fully repaired her body. Dex was trapped inside a machine, and he told Theal that he was stuck there only because of her betrayal. Tisa was very happy and said, “Mom will be so proud of me when she finds out that I’ve captured both of you.” By “mom,” she meant the scientist who had created Thea and Tisa. Thea told Tisa that their mission was only to capture Kalisek, so there was no reason to keep Dex. She said, “Let him go. He saved my life and brought me this far.” But Tisa didn’t listen to her and continued her work. Tisa took Dex’s blood samples for testing and left a robot there to keep an eye on everything. 

Thea distracted the robot and managed to free Dex. Meanwhile, it was shown that Tisa had already launched the spaceship to go to Earth and had informed them that she was bringing two aliens. But since Dex was now free, he quickly opened the spaceship door, jumped out, and returned to his own ship. There, he started repairing his spaceship and picked up his weapons so he could go after Tisa and kill Kalisek. But Tisa soon realized that Dex had escaped, so she decided to go back and capture him again. She sent her robots after him. However, Thea didn’t support her sister anymore. She wanted to help Dex, so she started trying to stop those synthetic robots. Thea fought all those robots and finally made it outside, where she reattached her legs to her body.

 After that, she was ready to fight Tisa. But fighting Tisa wasn’t easy, because she came with a huge and powerful robot. Tisa was sitting inside it and controlling it. Meanwhile, that same small creature went to Dex and told him that he was actually Kalisek’s son and wanted to find his mother. Dex teamed up with him. To prepare for the fight against Tisa, Dex first went into the jungle and used dangerous plants to create weapons. With those weapons, he destroyed many of the synthetic robots. Just then, Tisa arrived in that giant robot and kept attacking Dex again and again with its massive mechanical arms. Dex tried his best to fight back, but he kept failing. At that moment, Thea used her sister’s access lens to open the chamber where Kalisek had been captured. She freed Kalisek just to save Dex. Kalisek, full of rage, attacked the robot with a single strike and heavily damaged it.

Then, he pulled Tisa out of the robot. At that point, Dex and Thea felt like they had finally won the fight and took a sigh of relief. Dex brought Kalisek’s son to him, and Kalisek became very happy on him. It was revealed that Kalisek hadn’t killed Dex earlier because he had sensed the smell of his child on him and had been searching for him for a long time. After that, Kalisek met Thea gently as well, showing that even though he was huge and powerful, he was also kind. But suddenly, Kalisek froze, it was Tisa, who was still alive inside his body. She broke out from inside him and attacked Dex again. Thea attacked her sister and weakened her, and then Dex delivered the final blow, cutting off her head and killing her. 

Now Dex had no reason to stay on that planet, since Kalisek was dead. So he returned to his home planet with Thea and the small creature. When he arrived, his father got angry again and said, “Why do you even come back here? Just leave!” Dex told him to look at what he had brought—he had hunted two aliens, so now he deserved to be accepted into the clan. But his father ordered two Yautjas to attack him. Dex, who had faced far greater dangers, killed both of them in a single move. Still, his father showed no mercy and attacked him himself.

Dex fought him and eventually killed him too. Since his father was the leader of the clan and his brother was already gone, Dex became the new leader. All the Yautjas respected him because he had brought two aliens with him. At the end of the movie, a spaceship was seen approaching them. Everyone got scared, but Dex said, “My mother is in that ship.” It remained a mystery whether he meant Kalisek or someone else, and with that mystery, the movie ended.
